How We Help

EATING DISORDERS

At Integrated NeuroHealth, we understand the severity of eating disorders. We know that each individual case is different, and we believe that treatment should be considered on a case by case basis. Our treatment plans are customized to the individual, and can even include outside collaboration with primary care doctors and other healthcare practitioners.

While there are several different types of eating disorders, there’s one thing that they all have in common: an abnormal mentality about food, which impacts behaviors surrounding eating. It looks different in every case, but some of the most common situations are:

Anorexia Nervosa – Keeping weight as low as possible, by starving, excessive exercising, etc

Bulimia – Control weight by binge eating and then deliberately vomiting, or using laxatives

Binge Eating – Feeling compelled to overeat

Like all mental health issues, eating disorders start in the brain. Thus, treatment should also be focused around the brain.

Eating disorders are closely linked with other emotional reactivity issues like depression, anxiety, and anger. Neurofeedback has been shown to be helpful with relieving these issues, as well as treating the eating disorder directly.

At Integrated NeuroHealth, we use a state of the art proprietary Neurofeedback software called LORETA Z Score. It’s a highly personalized brain-training system that promotes the central nervous system to help your brain use all available resources to optimize itself.

Neurofeedback works by showing the brain where it’s unbalanced and sending signals to encourage the brain to self-correct.

Mental health issues arise when the brain gets stuck in a negative pattern. Neurofeedback teaches the brain to pull itself out of these patterns and become more open to positive brainwave patterns and emotions.
